YOU have something to offer

You have something to offer.

Often times I ask a business owner or school administrator what their school has to offer, and the response is based solely on how they compare to the competition. “Well, the competition down the street offers X and that’s just not a possibility for us so we only do Y.”

But no one asked for a comparison. The question is, what do YOU have to offer?

You do have something. What is it? Why should I value it? And did you know that that little “Y” you’re talking about like an afterthought is exactly what someone wants?

Some people will want what the competition is offering. That’s okay. There are varying needs, preferences and market shares. But customers will have a better chance of choosing your product when they know what it is, and why it’s great. Some people will want what YOU are offering. So tell them what it is.
